Some of our contributions
Our highlighted projects
In 2013, we made a valuable contribution to the "Impact of Migration Status on Employment" article as part of the UN World Youth Report on Youth Migration and Development moderated by DSPD / UNDESA and the International Labour Organization (ILO). Tijana’s insights and participation in the online discussions on youth and labour migration, organized by the ILO, added depth and expertise to the report's findings.
Another project implemented under UNDP Iraq’s LADP was the Expo to promote and encourage innovation and creativity among youth and sharing with the economic sector and society at large. Students of the University of Duhok, University of Zakho, Duhok Polytechnic University, Nawroz University, and Cihan University of Duhok, showcased 75 innovative projects including on education, science, e-governance, renewable energy and recycling. The expo attracted over 200 visitors from across the Governorate and beyond.
In 2018, Tijana with her team of photographers and graphic designers led the Turquoise Mountain Trust’s project partnering with Google Arts & Culture to showcase Afghanistan's cultural heritage to global audiences. On the page, a visitor can explore 3D tours of historical sites undergoing restoration, learn about traditional crafts being revived, and discover how this project is empowering Afghan communities. By bringing cultural treasures online, the project fosters appreciation and ensures Afghanistan's heritage endures.
YES project, funded by the European Commission, was launched by the Croatian Red Cross in 2013. Its focus was on promoting youth as active citizens supporting the prevention of human trafficking. The project also comprised of YES Camp - a week-long training that gathered 40 young people from five European countries. Finally, the project supported their work towards developing the Action Plan 2014-2018.
Working with UNDP Iraq and the European Commission’s Local Area Development Programme (LADP) on organizing the Student Innovation Competition on Sustainable Energy 2017 concluded in Erbil with an award ceremony celebrating young talented innovators and their projects. Eight awards were presented to projects and their young authors in four categories: resource conservation and/or energy efficiency; transport in cities; and renewable energy sources and smart technologies.
